Minding My Business, LLC, was created during the COVID-19 pandemic when a group of community leaders came together online to address long-standing issues plaguing the Black community.
Frustrated by endless meetings and ineffective political actions, they decided to take matters into their own hands.
Their discussions highlighted financial illiteracy as a core problem, leading to the creation of a comprehensive financial literacy platform.
This article explores the origins, mission, and impact of Minding My Business, LLC, and its dedication to improving financial literacy and overall quality of life in the Black community.

Identifying the Problem
The genesis of Minding My Business, LLC, was rooted in a shared frustration among community leaders.
For years, they had attended local, state, and federal meetings, speaking at hearings and advocating for change, only to return with token items like pamphlets, pens, and tote bags.
The real issues—financial illiteracy, predatory lending, and economic disenfranchisement—were continually ignored, downplayed or shuffled aside on political leaders' desks.
A Call to Action
Determined to be the change they wanted to see, these leaders, led by Wanda Jones, decided to focus on financial literacy.
They recognized that financial illiteracy was a pervasive issue in the Black community, contributing to economic instability and limited opportunities for wealth building.
They envisioned a platform that could deliver financial education across the country, transcending state boundaries and reaching as many communities as possible.
The Vision: Minding My Business Website
Wanda Jones spearheaded the idea of introducing financial literacy content via a website, seeing it as the best solution to disseminate valuable information widely and efficiently.
Thus, the Minding My Business website (www.mindingmybusiness.black) was created through the tireless efforts of Ms. Jones and her team as an educational financial literacy resource hub.
While Minding My Business is not your typical for profit organization, it serves as a Hybrid, a for profit company with a non-profit extended arm.Â
Most for profits growth stems from profit margins, while Minding My Business builds from the investment in the community residents.
Its primary audience is Black America, aiming to build wealth and gain financial freedom, but it welcomes anyone willing to work towards financial wellness.
