On June 14th, I had the honor of attending the first-ever Financial Freedom Conference, hosted by Love and Hip Hop star and rising entrepreneur Alexis Skyy. Held at the vibrant Tiger Tiger restaurant and lounge in suburban Marietta, Georgia, this empowering event was more than just a gathering—it was a movement aimed at reshaping how we think about wealth in our communities.

A Mission Rooted in Purpose
Timed poignantly around Juneteenth, the conference couldn’t have come at a more meaningful moment. Alexis Skyy, known for her transparency about her past and her recent pivot into entrepreneurship, created this space to spread financial literacy—something she admitted she once lacked but has since made a priority.
“The vision behind the Financial Freedom Conference was to pretty much spread the knowledge of financial literacy, because that’s something that I lacked,” Skyy shared during her welcome address.

From her heartfelt speech, it was clear this wasn’t about celebrity clout—it was about community elevation.
Real Talk, Real Tools
The room was filled with eager entrepreneurs, aspiring business owners, and everyday citizens—each of us looking to gain tools to build generational wealth. And we weren’t disappointed. Skyy brought together an all-star panel of financial experts and businesswomen who each brought unique perspectives and specialized knowledge:
Chyna Bethley – Expert in cryptocurrency
Melisa Okolie – Business strategist and tax guru
Tiffany DeBerry – Credit repair specialist
CEO Lili – Marketing and business development coach
The Billionaire Barbie – Insurance and life planning advocate
These women didn’t just speak at us—they poured into us. Each session was filled with actionable advice, from how to start your own tax prep company, to understanding crypto trading, to strategies for cleaning up your credit and preparing for long-term investments.
My Favorite Moments
One standout moment for me was when Tiffany DeBerry broke down how a poor credit score can cost you six figures over a lifetime—and how a few smart moves can flip that script in less than a year. Another was CEO Lili’s branding workshop, where she emphasized the importance of positioning and visibility in saturated markets. These weren’t abstract theories—they were roadmaps built from experience.

Why This Conference Mattered
As a Black woman and a blogger who’s passionate about empowerment, I was deeply moved by the spirit of collaboration and authenticity in that room. Too often, conversations around money are cloaked in secrecy or guilt. But Alexis and her team reminded us that transparency, mentorship, and education are the true keys to building wealth that lasts beyond our own lifetimes.
“Let’s put all of our powers together. Let’s make an impact,” Skyy declared—and that’s exactly what happened.
Looking Ahead
Due to overwhelming support and enthusiasm, Alexis Skyy announced a Financial Freedom Conference national tour kicking off this August. If the energy and impact of the Marietta event are any indication, this tour will be a can’t-miss opportunity for communities across the country.

As I left the event with a notebook full of insights and a heart full of inspiration, I felt one thing above all: hope. Hope that we’re turning a corner in how we talk about money. Hope that more of us will take control of our financial futures. And hope that spaces like these—created for us, by us—will only continue to grow.

Until next time,
