In the spirit of the season, Chairwoman Cicley Gay, of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation, joined forces with Atlanta's V103 radio host Jazzy McBee and her nonprofit, The Fab 5 Foundation, to deliver timely relief to families across the metro area. The Filling Carts, Lifting Hearts grocery and Christmas gift giveaway took place on December 14th at multiple Kroger and Walmart supermarket locations throughout Atlanta, bringing smiles, full carts, and holiday cheer to families navigating uncertain times.
The initiative comes at a critical moment, following new SNAP eligibility requirements that went into effect earlier this month, impacting vulnerable populations including veterans, members of the homeless community, and parents with older children. With more families at risk of losing essential benefits during the recertification process, this collaborative effort focused on meeting immediate needs—putting food on tables and gifts under trees—while reminding the community that support and solidarity still matter.
Led by Chairwoman Cicley Gay, the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation continues its mission of investing in Black and marginalized communities through direct action and meaningful partnerships. Aligning seamlessly with that vision, The Fab 5 Foundation, founded by Jazzy McBee, brought its heart-centered approach to service—lifting spirits while lightening the load for Atlanta families during the holidays.
A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated Kroger and Walmart staff at each participating location for their hospitality and on-the-ground support, which helped make the day a success. As the season of giving continues, organizers encourage the community to stay tuned for the next giveaway, as both foundations remain committed to showing up, giving back, and making a lasting impact where it’s needed most.
