On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the city of Atlanta came together for an unforgettable evening at The Courageous Awards — a powerful ceremony dedicated to honoring the strength, resilience, and survival of domestic violence survivors. Hosted by Love & Hip Hop stars Karlie Redd and Yandy Smith-Harris, the event brought together city leaders, advocates, and industry professionals with one shared mission: to bring awareness, provide hope, and celebrate those who have overcome unimaginable challenges.

The evening also featured the presence and support of Atlanta City Councilwoman Andrea Boone, whose leadership and advocacy have long centered around uplifting women, families, and community development. Her participation underscored the city’s commitment to not only addressing domestic violence but also strengthening community partnerships that foster safety and healing for all Atlantans.

As a real estate broker and community professional, I was deeply moved by the purpose and power of this event. Domestic violence is not a distant issue — it lives in many of our backyards. In my profession, I often encounter families and individuals searching not just for homes, but for refuge. For many, a safe home is the first step toward rebuilding after trauma. That’s why events like The Courageous Awards are so critical — they merge awareness with action, reminding us that housing, healing, and hope are all interconnected.

Karlie Redd and Yandy Smith-Harris used their platforms to highlight survivor stories that both broke hearts and inspired strength. Each honoree’s testimony echoed a universal truth: courage isn’t defined by what we go through, but by how we rise above it. Their stories reminded us that survival is not just about escaping danger — it’s about reclaiming dignity and rewriting your future.
Councilwoman Andrea Boone’s presence further reinforced the importance of city and community leaders uniting around this cause. Her dedication to women’s empowerment, affordable housing, and public safety aligns perfectly with the mission of The Courageous Awards — to ensure that survivors are not just recognized, but supported in their journeys toward restoration.

As professionals in real estate, business, and community development, we each have a responsibility to stand behind causes like this. Our roles extend far beyond sales or titles — we are builders of community. Whether it’s partnering with local organizations, providing access to housing, or using our influence to create awareness, our impact can help break cycles and restore hope.
The Courageous Awards served as a powerful reminder that when compassion meets collaboration, real change happens. By standing together — across industries, communities, and platforms — we can continue to empower survivors and ensure that every individual has access to safety, stability, and a sense of belonging.

I applaud Karlie Redd, Yandy Smith-Harris, Councilwoman Andrea Boone, and everyone who contributed to this meaningful event. Their work shines a light on courage, community, and the unbreakable power of unity.
