Although I have been writing since a very young age, I never thought about sharing my creative ink skills until 2009. I was at home and I was thinking about this person who was covered in tattoos, over 40% were names of people from their past. Then a week later, I came across a Poetry website and the only way to gain access was to create a poem, based on the word of the day, lucky for me the word was Tattoos.
I already knew how I felt about names on a person, especially when the name belonged to an ex. I also have the utmost respect for names that are family or a very close, yet departed friend. Within 15-20 minutes I came up with a poem titled: Tattoos. It's written for people with names, but more importantly, when and why to permanently place them on the skin.
TATTOOS
I have seen creatively written names of ex-lovers from yesterday.
Exploited on bodies like Billboard signs because you loved with limits and drew imaginary lines....
Making it hard to forget no matter how much time goes by....
Your memory of their love may fade, but it's the ink that's left behind....
Names are permanent reminders embedded on the skin....
You can never wash off that feeling of when.....
Now a part of life that no longer blends in....
Unless it's in the name of love for family or a dear departed friend...
Then tag your body with respect from beginning to end....
But as you live in the moment, it's easier to erase love when it's written on paper with your pen....
The book is titled: Conversations From The Heart.
