The 2024 King Holiday marked the 39th Observance of the federal holiday and the 56th year of The King Center’s celebration of Dr. King’s birthday. Spanning two weeks, the observance featured both in-person events in Atlanta and online engagement, Actors Actors Dule Hill and Essence Atkins shine as co-hosts of The King Center's 2024 Beloved Community Awards Ceremony. The joyful day of Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency, Atlanta, included performances by Chrisett Michelle, Algebra Blessett, Andra Day, Stevie Mackey, and Sons of Maestro. An AfterGlow concert with DJ Frank Ski and Ronald Isley featuring The Isley Brothers followed the awards ceremony, and the entire event streamed on Facebook, YouTube, and thekingcenter.org.

It was an event with many known and respected faces such as Crystal Renee Hayslett, Chelsea Clinton, Ashley D Bell, Jalyn Hall, Tamika Mallory, and Laila Ali. Everyone was elated to see Messiah and Domani Harris; the sons of The King of Atlanta T.I. "Tip" Harris lend their support by celebrating the honorees of this special Martin Luther King Jr. Beloved Community Awards Ceremony. The 2024 Beloved Community Awards and Honorees represented diverse impactful contributions.
Michael J. Fox, actor and advocate, received the Yolanda D. King Higher Ground honoree. Deloris Jordan, mother of Michael Jordan, was honored with the Coretta Scott King Soul of the Nation award. Attorney Ben Crump received the Beloved Community Social Justice award, and Spelman College was recognized with the Christine King Farris “Legacy of Service in Education” award. Scott Harrison, Founder and CEO of Charity Water, received the Beloved Community Humanitarian Award. Lowe’s, accepted by Marvin Ellison, Chairman and CEO, was honored with the Salute to Greatness Corporate Social Impact award. The Captain Planet Foundation, Gitanjali Rao, Sara Mora, Faith and Politics Institute, and FOX 5 Atlanta were also among the esteemed honorees. Each stood as a beacon of inspiration, reflecting the enduring spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream in their respective fields.
Dr. Bernice A. King, CEO of The King Center, congratulated the 2024 honorees, commending their unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and peace. She highlighted their dedication to fostering compassion, dignity, and a love-centered approach to create a new humanity free from racism, materialism, and militarism. The Beloved Community Awards aimed to recognize national and international individuals and organizations displaying excellence in leadership, tireless pursuit of social justice, and a steadfast commitment to creating the Beloved Community. The AfterGlow, held immediately after the awards ceremony, featured live entertainment, cocktails, and hors d'oeuvres, fostering an atmosphere of celebration and unity.
