This past Wednesday a time was definitely had. Life-N-Style Southern Summer’s RIP The Runway Fashion Show Edition powered by Inward Discovery, Groove2Musik, and Mo'Music Entertainment did not disappoint. Host Rj Nathaniel had VS1 ATL Studios packed with designers, models, performers, stylists, entrepreneurs, and fashionistas alike. Seemingly the theme for the fashion show was personal style. All who attended was dressed from head to toe. The room exuded black excellence.
The event commenced with a beautiful red carpet moment full of media, interviews, and photo opportunities. Following a cocktail hour including curated vendors and sponsors to partake in products and networking. Once the libations were flowing everyone was seated for a live fashion panel highlighting 5 chic professionals. Costume designer James "Jimmy" Hawkins from Single Ladies","Coming 2 America", “Black Panter: Wakanda Forever”, and “Our Kind Of People"; spoke about the true definition of personal style. Wardrobe Stylists/ Costume Designer Soulaire from “Basketball Wives” , “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood”, “Average Joe”, Kevin Gates and Young Dolph,2019 Soul Train Awards (Tisha Campbell Martin) BET Hip Hop awards, Super Bowl 22, and both Kanye Donda shows; spoke about fashionable trends and how to style within your own wardrobe. Fashion contributors Famous Banks, Brody Sanchez, and Kristian Knight discussed open topics about style and fashion based on their professional opinions. The live fashion panel provided an interesting spin for a fashion show.
Just when I thought the evening could not get any better the room got dark and the runway illuminated. There to kick things off with his smash hit “Lil Vibez", for the sexy and smooth all black category, @thehaitiangod Jephte Blanc. Per usual all black did not disappoint with the sleek, polished, and always safe looks. Next was @big.don.vito Donnie Dolo there performing his hit record "Love the way," for the monochromatic category while painting the runway in solids. This segment gave a fun take on the notion that people think matching from head to toe is corny or tacky... this proved the opposite. The business category was flawlessly following by providing some sultry sounds to the runway performing her latest hit "Sorry" @ChanLarue.This segment was all about transformation, using items of clothing to elevate style with diverse multifunctional pieces made for hard at work or hardly working. Next up we witnessed that different is only daring to the common! We were shown to step outside of the norm and excite style with some lively prints & patterns while being serenaded by @iamrichiesmile Richie Smile performing his smash hit "The Way”. Parallel to the effects of denim to the fashion world, our next artist changed the atmosphere of the denim category when she entered the runway with her dynamic stage presence and beautiful voice. Performing to the sounds of her record "BAP," @iamkelzhaunne Kelzhaunne hands down ate it all up and did not leave a crumb. The denim segment reminded everyone that it goes with everything and is just as good as black. It’s the swimsuits for the steaming hot and sexy finale. A Life-N-Style first featuring exclusive pieces from Irvin of Swim Sauce(a collection for women's bathing suits) accompanied by Tony of A l'eau collection (a male swimwear line). @TerryBright gave his take on fun in the sun with his live performance of “North Florida Flow” showcasing that it's time for sun kissed skin, confidence in diverse body types, and fun images by the pool. The swimsuits was the perfect ending to an amazing runway.
If I had to sum up the fashion show in just a few words I would have to say magical, chic, entertaining, positive, cultural, beautiful, and memorable. Inward Discovery curates these fashion exhibitions quarterly and if you know like I know you do not want to miss the next one. I just want to acknowledge all of the event participants from the organizers, vendors, models, sponsors, designers (Lorenzo from Zoe Gang Apparel x SaintLanta & Mahogany with DomByMo), media (photos by @BrandonMckell from Southern Accent, @Iamindiraaiku from Faze Productions), and event staff you all worked collaboratively to make the show go off without a hitch. I’m truly grateful to have partaken in such a wonderful evening of entertainment and fashion.
