PROMINENT ATLANTA ENTREPRENEUR AND PHILANTHROPIST MAJA SLY

Affordable Housing Advocate Maja Sly exemplified her 'Power of One' ideology by honoring some of Atlanta's elite medical, real estate, legal figures, and film and entertainment stars. She also highlighted Dinner at Dusk Foundation scholarship recipient Gabriel Chambers.

SEPTEMBER

2023 - Atlanta, GA. On Sunday, September 17th, Walk-in Weaves and Pretty Hair CEO Maja Sly curated the dazzling 2nd Annual Dinner at Dusk Polo Classic Legacy on the Green in the intimate and picturesque surroundings of Chukkar Farms in Alpharetta, Georgia. During the event, Maja manifested her 'Power of One' ideology through the celebration of Atlanta's leading real estate, medical, legal, and film and entertainment Black female figures, including BET+ "All The Queen's Men" and the "Cool Soror" podcast Host Rashan Ali, Invest Atlanta's Director of Homeownership and Single Family Services Anita Allgood, Precious Anderson, Esq., The Anderson Firm founder and owner, City of Atlanta Municipal Court Judge and "The Daughter of A Junkie: A True Love Story" Author Terrinee Gundy, Brandi Hunter Luxury Group CEO Brandi Hunter-Lewis, Sonia Lewis, The Student Loan Doctor founder and CEO, Joi Mebane, The Look by Joi founder and owner and Breast Health Physician and Cancer Awareness Advocate April Spencer, MD.

"My mission is to bridge the racial wealth gap, and I know it is impossible without there being people who understand how policies and procedures affect middle-class households and are willing to fight for them," stated Maja. "Affordable housing in Atlanta is deemed any property that costs under $450,000, which means teachers, firefighters, and police officers cannot live in a city where they serve. We have to do something about this."

Maja also spotlighted the Dinner at Dusk Foundation scholarship recipient and HBCU student Gabriel Chambers, who can attest to the entrepreneur's 'Power of One ideology. "If I did not know Ms. Maja Sly and Mrs. Michelle Falconer, I would not be able to meet so many incredible women and men," stated Gabriel. "I am more financially literate and can see myself being a homeowner in my 20s and putting money in a Roth IRA." In addition to her scholarship, Gabriel is now part of an elite group of influential women entrepreneurs and executives who will serve as her mentors, and she is a candidate for an internship that pays an hourly wage of $41. "This is such an amazing organization to have for young people. We need more people to help us," stated Gabriel.

A native of Panama City, Florida, Maja changed her life trajectory and family legacy after attending Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University. A first-generation college graduate with a degree in finance, Maja relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she continues to achieve exponential success as an affordable housing advocate and multi-million-dollar serial beauty brand entrepreneur.

In her final remarks, Maja charged her guests with the significant task of being the 'power of one' for fellow local Atlanta residents. "I want you all to know it is important for you to reach back and do what you can," stated Maja. "You do not have to be able to donate 10, 20, or 50,000, but if you start moving, God will move mountains."

Woodson Whiskey by Charles Woodson and St. Royale Premium Vodka by Ted Fason are proud sponsors of the annual Dinner at Dusk Polo Classic Legacy on the Green.
