As I start preparing my internship deck to send out to schools in the tri-state, I wanted to highlight our current intern Brianna Soriano.
Just recently we learned she has been accepted to the Fashion Institute of Technology Class of 2028!
Big congrats!
1) What kind of degree are you applying to colleges for? What inspired you to want this career path.
I am between two colleges, FIT and Parsons.
However, I have to wait until April for my FIT decision. If I do get in, the Fashion Institute of Technology is where I will major in Fashion Business Management with a minor in International Trade and Marketing, or Parson Paris (The New School) majoring in Strategic Design and Management with a minor in Fashion Studies.
I have known I wanted to go into fashion since I was in middle school because I loved fashion and have always been a creative person.
It wasn't until my internship with Power Squad that I realized that I wanted to major specifically in the business side of fashion.
2) How has your internship with Power Squad Campaign benefited you thus far? What have you learned?
I have had the amazing opportunity to work with the Power Squad Campaign since 2022.
I had just turned 16 when I got in contact with Jewelz. Finding an internship while being a minor is very difficult.
I am extremely thankful for Jewelz for giving me the opportunity. Like I have said prior, I wanted to major in fashion design but after my first internship, I realized that I prefer working behind the scenes.
Every fashion show I attend with Power Squad Campaign, I have left the shows knowing this is what I want to do as a future job.
This opportunity has led me to other internships, getting invited to Paris Fashion Week, and getting into college.
4) If anyone reading has opportunities available to you, what are you looking for?
I am honestly open to anything that involves fashion.
I like learning new things and like to explore the fashion industry. I can intern for anything from fashion shows, personal assistant, work in public relations, marketing or help come up with ideas for your brand or company.
5) Would you say you have any talents you would like to share?
With fashion, one of my talents has been multitasking. Working behind the scenes at NYFW, you have to do like 100 things at once.
It can be very challenging or stressful for some. For some reason, I enjoy multitasking. I work better having many tasks to do at once.
6) You’re a young adult with your whole life ahead; what are some goals for you in the next 2-3 years? Where do you see yourself?
I have lots of goals I want to achieve.
In the next 2-3 years I see myself living or living in Europe for at least a year to get a new perspective in fashion from different countries around the world.
However, my main goal is just to be happy in my career. I love fashion and it brings me so much joy. I want to be happy wherever I end up and hopefully work in the Fashion & Luxury industry.
7) Who or what has been an inspiration or major support in your journey?
I would like to thank my parents.
Going into fashion is not as common as other careers like nursing, architecture, or education.
However, my parents have always supported my passion because they see how much it brings me joy.
They have let me take any opportunity that has come my way like NYFW. The first fashion show I ever attended with Power Squad, my parents woke up at 5 am to drive me to the venue of the show.
They have given me their whole support and I am so thankful they are letting me go into something I love.
Power Squad Campaign has been very lucky to have this empowered young lady on our team! I can not wait to see what her years at FIT produce in the future.
She will always have a home with us here but I encourage any of our readers to reach out to her with viable opportunities that can nurture and grow her passion for the industry!
Thank you Brianna for all your hard work!
